Bored to Death

I don’t know why I’m like this. I easily get bored with the routine. I quit my previous job because of the usual unexciting schedule I had and right now, I’m contemplating for another letter of resignation to be tendered due to the same old reason, I’m bored to death!

At first, it was like, wow, this is really cool but as time goes by, I found that it doesn’t anymore fascinate me or something. I have dreamt of becoming an educator when I was a kid probably because of my admiration to my father but I guess that was just the typical reaction of a daughter who admires her father who is a teacher. “Teaching” is the noblest profession here in the Philippines. And I believe I was just a bit influenced by that Oriental idea that’s why.

To teach is cool and to be a trainer in one of the call centers is even more challenging supposed to be, just like the broadcasting job that I gave up. However, I just can’t seem to find enjoyment with the daily routine. Everyday must be a new day but is always regarded as an ordinary day. You wake up and find yourself doing the usual thing. It excites me no more. I no longer find myself exerting effort to excel in because I’m all wrapped up with boredom. I don’t see any challenge and neither do I view a simple change or betterment. I can’t sense the rush of my adrenaline. I feel stagnant. I feel immobilized. I feel dead.

I have nothing against the company of course. This company that first gave me a call center experience is one of the most outstanding contact centers in the country, well-performing and has a good management, competitive and fast-growing. I’m just craving for something that will make my nerves up and put me in high spirits just like the jobs of Sidney Bristow in “Alias,” Jane Smith in “Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Gracie Hart in “Ms. Congeniality” or the ladies in “Charlie’s Angels,” “So Close,” and “Naked Weapon”. Whew! You got it, I want to be a secret agent, undercover, a spy or probably a hired assassin (?) but definitely not a suicide bomber. Duh! I don’t want to risk my life for something that’s unadorable. I just want excitement and action and to accomplish different kind of missions and be a hero, but not superhero! (That’s too much I guess!) How I wish I could land in a job such as those. FBI, hire me!

If only I have the qualities to be one, I would have been one of the most reputable undercover agents in the world. (Please don’t get me wrong. hehe!) Unluckily, I don’t know any kind of martial arts, don’t know how to hold a gun and don’t know how to shoot. So, let’s just leave it as one of my frustrations.

Another profession that fascinates me and certainly won’t be listed as one of my frustrations is being a writer. I thank God, I know how to write. Contrary to my above-mentioned dream job that requires adventure, writing engages into deep thinking and concentration and it amuses me! It’s contrasting but that’s how I love it. I am both a fan of action and solitude just like my fondness to aerobics and yoga. Others may find writing too dreary but somehow provides satisfaction to all who will indulge into it. It gives one the power to manipulate the characters if it’s a novel or a short story. It bestows someone the courage to speak out his thoughts and furnishes an individual the might to defy wickedness. Isn’t it gratifying?

Writing is cool and never does it bore me. If I can’t find a job that is equally tremendous as it does, I’ll just stick to it, make the most out of my pen and be like Shakespeare!

I’ll Miss You, Heath!

Heath Ledger is a great actor! No doubt about it! I have loved him even more when he starred in “A Knight’s Tale,” one of the tales lifted from Geoffrey Chaucer’s “Canterbury Tales.” It is actually about group of pilgrims who decided to relate their personal chronicles of life as an exciting way to battle boredom while on travel. The “Knight’s Tale” is just one of the many tales accounted for and it was one of the amazing stories ever told.Heath shone bright in the film. He displayed his extraordinary acting and fighting skills and hypnotically cradled viewers to the setting of the story. It seems so real. And of course, his superb performance in the Academy-award winning romantic movie, Brokeback mountain that gave him an Oscar nod. I also fell in love with him in “10 Things I Hate About You” and caught my admiration in “The Patriots.”Heath is just one of the few great actors who caught my admiration and respect. He is a versatile actor. He can portray a lot of roles and is susceptible to deliver them excellently. He got exceptional, extraordinary dexterity in wowing his audience. He’s extremely impressive and adorable.

Heath’s death shocked and terrified me. It was unbelievable his life and career will have to end it this way. Too bad! Too painful!

You will always be remembered, Heath for you are legendary.

Pro-Divorce

Life is simple and should not be made complicated. Contentment is the key to happiness. So why stick with the boring way of life you have when in fact, you have the choice to make it far better and different, the option to be happy and satisfied?This is the rationale behind my stand on divorce. There’s no law governing divorce here in my country and I wish there will soon be. The only one we have is legal separation and annulment of marriage whose process takes a very long time before the decision finally be announced. It’s annoying and it just prolongs the agony of the one who wants to be freed from the knot which he or she once tethered.Actualy, I’m not married nor separated. I am still single, never been married and no kids. My stand on being pro-divorce was influenced simply by my observation. A husband and wife fight everyday due to some reasons like; there is third party, the husband often beats the wife, the wife is not a good wife as she goes to spa or parlor everyday and goes home late at night, the husband is vicious: he drinks a lot, he smokes a lot and he parties a lot; the husband is a drug addict, the wife is a nagger and always badmouths her husband, the wife forgets her emotional or sexual responsibility, the husband is not a good financial provider, the husband is psychologically incapacitated or the wife maybe and others. These are facts that should be taken into consideration by our solons or lawmakers to pass a divorce bill. These are irreconcilable differences and will never make a family life blissful.

I am a Catholic and I understand that the sacrament of marriage must be kept sacred and holy but the facts mentioned are making the marriage itself chaotic and messy. I don’t think a husband and wife can stand a daily fight, badmouthing each other and sometimes go a little physical throughout their married life. I certainly don’t think a husband will be patient enough listening to the daily “vehemently long oratorical speech” of his wife, nagging and shouting and crying out all the hecks, s*** and the f*** life has offered her.

I don’t belong to a broken family if that’s what you have in mind. My parents never got a divorce for obviously there’s no divorce here. Neither did they get annulment or legal separation. I have three siblings and we are all legitimate children and that’s what I’m proud of with my family.

My perspective on separation comes not from my family but from other families. I love a happy life and I always crave for happiness. If I’m not happy, I’ll try to look for things that will make me happy or at least just be contented. Same is true with my views on family. It’s painful to see couples making quarelling and hitting each other a daily routine. It’s even more painful to see a man keeping his mouth shut or just walked out the house and stay outside overnight to avoid his wife’s loud mouth or to see a guy drowning himself into alcohol because of disappoinment in his married life. Why do these things happen?

I believe we all deserve happiness and we have the option to either look for it or just forget about it. Why suffer a dull life when in fact a lot of good choices are laid upon us? Why do you stick with a marriage that’s not working and growing when you have the option to get rid of it? Unhappy married life signifies lack of love between one of the parties. If love is inexistent within the marriage, then go out and search for it. Or do you choose to be happier when alone? It’s up to you! Just follow what you think is good and right for you! Life is not difficult to live, go the easy way and enjoy!

On Being A DJ

I worked as a dj for almost 5 years and I must say, not a fascinating job.At first, it was! It indeed was! It was actually one of my dreams and really tried hard to get the job. I was so excited in my first year of being a dj. I play songs on air! wow! That’s really cool! Listeners are calling up and texting up to cast their requests and dedications. The less number of friends suddenly grew in magnitude, and of course, don’t forget the fame, the spotlight as they say. You’ll just be surprised when all of a sudden, a person will approach you and say, “hi DJ Mylz”, can I make a request? or simply say “hello, you’re DJ Mylz, right?” This experience is not ridiculous of course. I enjoy it.What I really want about being a dj are the songs being played. I’m addicted to music especially alternative, rock, punk and emo. Music makes my day. As a fact, I battle loneliness through music. I fight boredom with music. I defy stress and fatigue via music. Precisely, music heals a wounded soul and makes dull spirit high. I presumed this is just the reason why I ended up sacrificing my five years in a radio station, why I remained passive and just let that five years passed by for nothing. I got captivated by music, that’s it!

But then a time came when the music spell was gone and I finally decided to quit the job and leave for better opportunity. For me, there’s no opportunity in disc jockeying, no challenge, no improvement and the routine bores me. Everyday, you sit infront of a mixer, a computer, a microphone and a telephone. You search for requested songs, answer calls, take requests, and talk and talk and talk sensibly or senselessly. It’s not the right job for growing up. For those who are looking for fun, yes, it is! it may be the right one for them. It is simply a pastime, a habit but it can’t be called a career.

Pardon to all dj’s and aspiring dj’s. This is just what I found out through experience. Being a dj is not bad. It’s delightful at first but as time goes by, you will get bored to death with the routine. It’s nerve-killing and paralyzing plus, not to mention the low $.
